NXT Takeover: Orlando predictions

Every edition of NXT Takeover is better than the last. During WrestleMania week, the brand really steps up its game, usually stealing the weekend from the main show.

This year should be no different with major matches and all the championships on the line. So, let’s get into predictions for NXT Takeover: Orlando.

Tye-10

Tye Dillinger, Roderick Strong, No Way Jose and Ruby Riot vs Sanity

Despite not holding a championship, Dillinger is the veteran of NXT and the NXT Universe’s longtime favorite. Sanity has been getting a big push since they entered so a win here seems like a foregone conclusion. Strong and Riot are newcomers who aren’t necessarily in line for a win this big. This storyline has already dragged on too long and it’s time for everyone to move on. Dillinger needs to put on a spectacular match in what should be his NXT swan song. It’s time for his main roster call up and the RAW or SmackDown after WrestleMania is the perfect place for that to happen.

Winner: Sanity

Aleister Black vs Andrade “Cien” Almas

Almas has gained a lot of momentum since turning heel. At any other time he would get the win, but Black is making his much trumpeted debut and that usually leads to a win. If they have a good match on the brand’s largest stage, it could lead to a good feud and more opportunities.

Winner: Aleister Black

The Authors of Pain vs #DIY vs The Revival – Tag Team Championship Triple Threat Elimination

This will be the biggest test for the champions. Every time DIY and The Revival get in the ring they steal the show. Their 2 out of 3 falls championship match was rightfully voted last year’s match of the year. The Authors of Pain are big and powerful but have yet to show skills that would convince fans they can keep up with these two great tag teams. Rumors of The Revival getting called up leave them out of the title picture. For the feud to continue and because they’re better than AOP, DIY should win.

Winner: #DIY

Asuka vs Ember Moon – Women’s Championship

Asuka is undefeated and miles better than her closest competitor, Moon. The writers have done a good job of selling Ember as a possible threat to Asuka, but when it comes down to it, Asuka’s arsenal is too deep and there are so many different ways she can win. While Ember Moon is growing, she is still not ready to lead the division. The only wrench in this plan could be Asuka’s possible call up to SmackDown. That seems like a longshot right now though.

Winner: Asuka

Bobby Roode vs Shinsuke Nakamura – NXT Championship

This may the only match in history where people are just as excited for the entrances as they are for the match. Roode and Nakamura have the best entrances in wrestling and they will step those up to a new level for the biggest event of the year. As for the match, that should be a thriller. Roode injured Nakamura and took his title at the last Takeover, so look for Nakamura to be extra brutal. Roode has the power advantage and has become the new face of NXT. Look for this to continue with Roode securing his place at the top.

Winner: Bobby Roode.

With NXT in somewhat of a transition period, what happens at NXT Takeover: Orlando will have a direct effect on what fans will see at WrestleMania, RAW and SmackDown.

NXT Takeover: Orlando airs Saturday, April 1 at 8 pm ET/5 pm PT on the WWE Network. It is preceded by the pre-show at 7:30 pm ET/4:30 pm PT.
