Fresh off the release of the short film Battle at Big Rock, more Jurassic World news is exciting fans.

Franchise vets Sam Neill, Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum will reprise their roles of Dr. Alan Grant, Dr. Ellie Sattler and Dr. Ian Malcolm in Jurassic World 3.

Goldblum appeared in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, where Malcolm testified about the dangers of dinosaurs and humans co-existing, while Neill and Dern were last seen in Jurassic Park III.

Colin Trevorrow announced the casting surprise at a special screening of Fallen Kingdom at ArcLight Cinemas in Hollywood. He went on to note that the three actors would have meatier roles than what Goldblum had in Fallen Kingdom.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom ended with dinosaurs being set free from an illegal auction, meaning they’re now out in the real world.

Though we don’t know how the third film will deal with the consequences of all this, Battle at Big Rock, which takes place a year later, does offer a glimpse at the new world.

Jurassic World 3 is scheduled for release in summer 2021, with Trevorrow once again directing, and co-writing with Emily Carmichael (Pacific Rim Uprising).
